What is the cost of living @ 196 Trumbull?


The monthly cost is comprised of base rent and the additive features and amenities that make the co-living lifestyle an all-inclusive one.
Co-living @ 196 Trumbull starts at $2,250 per month.




What types of spaces do you have available?


Upward @ 196 Trumbull features four floors of residential living accommodations. Each unit is a fully-furnished, studio-style private apartment with its own kitchenette and bathroom. Each floor includes shared living spaces for all residents to enjoy. Floor plans are below: 2ND FLOOR | Common Space: Shared Workspace 3RD FLOOR | Common Space: Recreation Room 4TH FLOOR | Common Space: Media Lounge 5TH FLOOR | Common Space: Community Kitchen




What is included in my apartment?


All apartments @ 196 Trumbull include furnishings and utilities. FURNITURE Each apartment is fully furnished with a queen bed, work table and chair, sofa and coffee table, small kitchenette including refrigerator & microwave, electric kettles, and a 40” TV. All home goods will be included such as linens, towels, plates, cups, silverware, bathroom furnishings, etc. UTILITIES Electricity, water, gas, internet and cable are included in each apartment.




What else is included?


COMMUNAL SPACES & SHARED AMENITIES Common areas, such as the cafe, recreation room, laundry room, and communal kitchen are stocked with essential amenities to make you feel at home. CLEANING Shared spaces are cleaned daily and each apartment will be cleaned on a bi-weekly basis. LAUNDRY On-site washer/dryer units are free for residents' use.




Is parking included?


On-site parking is not available @ 196 Trumbull. Upward offers discounted monthly parking rates via the Metro Center Garage on 150 High Street, Hartford, CT. For guests, metered street parking is available on Trumbull Street, which is free after 6pm on weekdays and all day on Saturday/Sunday. Other nearby area lots and garages (5-8 minutes walking distance from Upward) can be accessed here.




Do you have any co-living spaces outside of Hartford?


Currently, 196 Trumbull is our only co-living location. Please stay tuned for future residential expansions!

What is co-living?


Co-living @ Upward provides an all-inclusive lifestyle for individuals seeking a different form of downtown living. While each apartment is locked and private, co-living encourages intentional community via shared common spaces and social events. Modern convenience is at the heart of co-living. Apartments and common areas come furnished and stocked with all of the amenities you need to feel at home. All spaces are professionally maintained on a regular basis. Upward @ 196 Trumbull is centrally located in the heart of Connecticut's capital city, with easy access to restaurants, shops, world-class colleges and universities, innovative employers, and Upward's co-working and event spaces. Co-living also is ideal for flexible commitments. Whether you are traveling into Hartford for an accelerator program, multi-month contract work, semester at a local college, or offsite event, our flexible lease agreements honor the length of your stay. We certainly encourage you to stay for as long as you like - after all, 196 Trumbull is designed to feel like home!




Who lives at a co-living space?


All walks of life are welcome to our co-living space. We are proud to offer boutique, studio-style apartments @ 196 Trumbull, which is ideal for students, entrepreneurs, corporate travelers, and couples looking to make downtown Hartford their home. We're home to the brightest minds who are respectful and encouraging of their fellow tenants' Upward movement, both personally and professionally. We love furry friends, but unfortunately, pets are not allowed to live @ 196 Trumbull.

Directions & Parking

What are my options for parking?


Upward offers deep discounts for monthly parking via Metro Center Garage at 150 High Street, Hartford, CT. Contact us today to learn more. If you are not interested in monthly parking, the most convenient parking area is within the MAT Garage attached to our building. The hourly rate is $3.00, and you may enter from either Church Street or South Chapel Street. There is also metered street parking on both Church Street and Main Street, which is free after 6pm. Other nearby area lots and garages (5-8 minutes walking distance from Upward) can be accessed here.




Do you validate parking?


We do not validate parking.




How do I get to your space?


We are conveniently located right off of major highways at Hartford's iconic Stilts Building at 20 Church Street, Hartford, CT (at the intersection of Church & Main Street). If you need specific directions from Bradley International Airport (BDL), Boston, NYC (or anywhere, really....) please feel free to copy/paste from below: From BDL (Bradley International Airport):

  • Take Interstate 91 Southbound to exit 32B, Trumbull Street.
  • Turn left on Main Street and right on Church Street.
  • 20 Church Street is located on the corner of Church and Main Street and convenient parking is located in the MAT Garage, attached to the building.
From Boston and points North:
  • From I-90 Westbound: take Interstate 84 Westbound via exit 9 toward US20 crossing into Connecticut.
  • Proceed on 84 Westbound to Exit 50, the Main Street, Route 44 exit.
  • At the end of the ramp, take a sharp left onto Main Street.
  • Pass through one intersection, taking a right onto Church Street.
  • 20 Church Street is located on the corner of Church and Main Street and convenient parking is located in the MAT Garage, attached to the building.
From New York City and points South:
  • Take I-95 Northbound towards New Haven, departing at Exit 48, Interstate 91 Northbound.
  • Proceed on Interstate 91 Northbound to Exit 29A, Capitol Area.
  • Merge onto Whitehead Highway, taking a right onto Prospect Street.
  • Turn left onto Arch Street and an immediate right onto Main Street.
  • Turn Left onto Church Street.
  • 20 Church Street is located on the corner of Church and Main Street and convenient parking is located in the MAT Garage, attached to the building.
From points West:
  • Take I-84 Eastbound to the Main Street Exit, numbered 50.
  • Turn right onto Trumbull Street, followed by an immediate left onto Church Street.
  • 20 Church Street is located on the corner of Church and Main Street and convenient parking is located in the MAT Garage, attached to the building.
From points East:
  • Take Interstate 95 Southbound to Interstate 84 Westbound to Exit 50, the Main Street, Route 44 Exit.

What is Upward Citizenship?


Upward Citizenship is an all-encompassing lifestyle that includes living, working, and thriving as a monthly member of Upward's physical spaces. Upward Citizens have access to all of the perks that come with Upward membership, including co-working access, co-living, and other Upward events and experiences.




What types of spaces do you have available?


Upward @ 20 Church spans 34,000 square feet of co-working, private office, conference rooms, and event spaces.




How many people can your offices accommodate?


Private offices can comfortably seat between 3 and 6 team members, depending on the specific office. Need more space? We'll do our best to find a neighboring office to accommodate your growing team!




What's included with membership @ 20 Church?


Upward Citizens @ 20 Church have access to the following amenities:

What is your guest policy?


We encourage our Citizens to meet with clients, partners, and potential hires @ 20 Church. Guests are welcome to visit for up to two hours before purchasing a day pass at the Citizen rate. Their day pass is valid until 5PM of the purchase date unless otherwise noted.




How do I access conference rooms?


Depending on your level of Citizenship, you are eligible for 2-8 hours of complimentary conference room time per month. When onboarded, you will receive a link to download and register via the Upward Community mobile app. You can access the app via your web browser as well. Upon registration, browse available conference rooms and reserve them in increments of 15 minutes. While a conference room may look empty, we highly discourage entering without a reservation, as groups may be late to their confirmed reservation or have just recently reserved the space for the time of your entry.




What about food?


Upward's team is comprised of foodies, so we completely understand the importance of nutritious food powering you through the work day! There are fridges available for you to bring your own meals each day, as well as a cafe in the lobby for breakfast and lunch. Upward @ 20 Church is conveniently located within 5 minutes of local restaurants, food courts, and delis, so you'll never go hungry! Soft drinks, coffee, and tea are complimentary to Citizens and guests.




What does it cost to become an Upward Citizen?


Private Office Citizens enjoy the greatest level of access to Upward's workspaces at 20 Church. In addition to their locked, private office(s), Private Office Citizens enjoy 24/7 access to Upward's shared co-working spaces, on-site gym, and 2 hours of complimentary conference room time per month per in-office team member. Private offices start at $999/mo for a minimum of 12 months. Upward has different levels of monthly access to its co-working spaces:

  • Full-time Citizens - 24/7 - All amenities included - Starting at $299/mo
  • Nights & Weekends Citizens - After 5pm M-F, 24H Sat-Sun - All amenities included - Starting at $175/mo
  • Student Citizens - Flexible access hours based on class schedule - Starting at $125/mo
  • Virtual Citizens - Mailing services and 1 optional day of co-working per month - Starting at $75/mo
